How crazy would it be to try to modify this "factory" loader taken off an 8n to fit an L285? I know it would take a lot of cutting and welding, but as a rough starting point. Let's say I can pick this loader up for $250, would you consider it. It has 3 hydraulic cylinders (probably single acting?) hoses, valves, and at least a starting point to make the loader arms and bucket.

I'm not sure if I could get it that cheap, and it's about 100 miles away, and I'm not sure if I could convince wife to let me buy it,

Keep in mind, the old 8N loaders were mainly intended to move animal manure. Not strong enough to dig.

And no down pressure with single acting, which it almost assuredly has.

If you are capable & want a project to entertain yourself (I have a few similar lined up) go for it, but don't expect much of a return on investment if you end up selling it.

It ended up selling for $550, and no way I would give that.
