I'm looking for a root grapple for my 110 TLB and really like the offerings from Notch Manufacturing.
See products here: Home

I'm also liking the Everything Attachments CA Root Grapple.
Link:Construction Attachments X-Treme Duty Compact Tractor Root Grapple Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach CAL, 1RGCMP

Both Grapples are around the 2K mark costwise. I was looking into more HD grapples such as the Bradco and the CA Extreme duty unit's but don't want the weight or think it'll be warranted with the use. Anyone have experience with either of these units?

I just bought the GR-7000 for the 5500. About 2 weeks for custom BT-7100 to be made for the bucket width. Without hoses was $750

I have a grapple from everything attachments which is very heavy duty. Don't be afraid of heavy duty grapples, your 110 TLB has the strength to handle the weight. Brush has never been a problem, it is so light that the limit is how much brush you can get in the jaws.

I have carried some pretty big rocks, cleary larger than a washing machine, but not by much. By getting under the rock I can slide even larger ones across the ground, and even tilt them over so I can choose which side is up. The only thing I ever had trouble with was a log, 20' long and 20" in diameter. Couldn't lift it more than a foot or so off the ground.

Smaller logs can be 30' long and are easy to pick up, although you have to be careful to pick up from the balance point. And, don't hit anything with the end.

BTW, the technique that works best for me to pick up a log or a brush pile is to open the jaws wide, then tip the bucket all the way forward (just like you were dumping a load from a standard bucket). Drop the bucket on the logs, brush pile, whatever, and close the grapple. This way I don't have to chase the load all over the place to get it into the grapple.

Which particular grapple do you have from Everything attachments?
Do you have any pics? I'm leaning towards a 66" unit. I know the 110 can handle a heavy grapple, but I'm not convinced I need one with 3/4" steel.

If you are thinking about the CA grapple why not consider the Wicked grapple?

I have one from Lofflin down in NC. It's been tested hard on a 10,000# skid steer, now for about 10 years. One of the grapple's is "tweaked" a little, but that's from wrenching out whole trees.

What is the lift capacity of that thing, 7,000lbs? If so, then I'd be looking at a heavy duty model. Although not a root grapple, I really like my Faver grapple.

Just remember. The heavyier the grapple, the less you can pick up. Is heavyier a word?

I use heavyier instead of fat. She's heavyier then most.

That Notch unit looks good. 56" jaw opening. The Wicked is 30".
