Looking to add a Sub-Soiler to the line-up. Would like to find one that would hold up to a 1532 Massey (32 hp & Cat 1 3pt.) and have the option of adding a Middle Buster shovel to cut some drainage slots. Is there a unit that will do both or do I need to purchase two separate tools? Steve

I have a Farm Force (TSC for Tarter?) yellow subsoiler that I also use with a middle buster shovel. Unfortunately, the point angle of the subsoiler (about 25 degrees) is not very good for the middle buster, which wants to be set steeper. My workaround has been to put a bushing between the middle buster shovel and the frame, at the rear bolt location, to get more "bite". Not an ideal solution, but it works:

This may be a dumb question, but what if ... ya took a potato plow and removed the plow part? That would be like a sub-soiler and then you could always put the plow back on when needed. put bolts in the hole to keep the threads clean ... maybe you'd need a tooth to bolt on to dig in. A little welding with scrap metal...

I have a middle buster with 18" tater plow that I remove the tater plow and install a chisel plow shovel for subsoiling. Chisel shovel is 3" wide so it digs a pretty wide slot but goes approx 18" deep. Have had no problem with ground penetration yet.

I do the same.

I wanted the same and had just enough steel on hand to build one unit. I made the point with a pivot to allow a shallow angle for sub-soiling and a steeper point for plow. Works pretty slick but was a bit of a challenge to make the adjustable point. My homemade ripper point is junk so going to have to buy a real one soon. Hope the pics make sense of how it adjusts.

That looks good. And I get the adjustments. Nice to see your dog appreciates the plow.

It does look very good. I would use grade 2 shear bolts as protection just in case of an obstruction. You might twist it anyway with too much horsepower but the shear bolts are good protection and common on commercial sub soilers.
