I am going to order some bucket hooks, I am not 100% sure yet what all the FEL will be used for but I want to order the right combination of things now.

I am looking at the Bolt on Hooks (Kens) or the combo packaage that included the clevis (clevis to hook shackle to to use ropes, etc)

I have seen some use 3 hooks, 2 inline with arms 1 in the center
I have seen 2 hooks inline with arms
I have seen 3 hooks with a combo in the middle
Ken also just sells a steel ring that can be used with a hook and then you could run ropes through that and avoid the clevis/shackle all togehter?

So, not knowing exactly what uses may come about for my FEL, what is the best combination that will cover all future uses, or at least get me close? I am not sure what I would use the middle one for in any case since its seems it would have to used for light duty stuff.

Just trying to get the best combo to start with.
Thanks

Grab hooks on both sides and a clevis in the center is what I have on mine.

You'll have to judge for yourself what combo that you think you'd like. In reviewing bucket hooks, you'll find every possible combination of weld on, bolt on and placement of 5/16, 3/8 hooks, and clevises. I just have the two 5/16'' bolt on that are placed in line with the cylinders. But using rope or straps could make clevises more handy at times. The decision could involved the size of your tractor and the work that you anticipate doing.
Cheers,
Mike

This pretty sums up what I have except my 2 hooks are 5/16 weld on in line with the cylinders. I have thought about putting a 2 inch receiver hitch in the center and beef up under it. But I havent done it yet. This way you could stick what ever you want in the 2 inch receiver, including a boom pole etc.

I started by adding a 2"x2" angle to the top edge for additional strength. Then welded on 2 hooks in line with the cylinders.
I bolted on a couple hooks that can be used with rope or chain. Then added a hydraulic thumb.
A receiver hitch in the middle would be nice if you need to move trailers around or put a clevis hitch into.

Mine are bolt on. I've made a "bridle" that goes from hook to hook and hangs under the bucket for lifting from the center.

Lots of variables, but having the chain lined up properly with what you are lifting sure helps from things moving around. I also added full length 3/8" angle at the tops of both of my buckets as well as 3/8" flat bar on the sides.

Lots of good ideas in this thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/customization/292212-chain-hooks.html

I prefer chain slots because you can use the chain front or back.

Over the back of the bucket gives more lifting power. If you put the middle of the chain in the slot you get two chains hanging down, one in front, one over the back, to attach to whatever you are picking up.
