I presently have a 60 inch wide bucket(non low profile) I have an option to get a 60 or a 66 inch wide one. Id like the extra 6 inches. It doesn't seem to be much of a difference. But am wondering if anyone has experience or comments on what I could expect from the wider one.
I believe the tractor would handle the extra as I can usually over spill the 60 inch one with dirt.

I simply measured the width of the widest point on my tractor and got a loader that was at least as wide as the outside of my rear wheels.

I agree. I want my bucket wider than my tires....

If you have the hydraulic pump capacity to handle the increased load - and it sounds like you will - I'd go with the bucket that will clear your track width. This makes it much easier to maintain a level cut into a side hill and when digging into soil. If you don't have easy digging soil, this may be irrelevant, but it still applies to moving/clearing snow.

Interesting. I just measured the width of the rear track and have over the 66 inches.I hadn't thought about this before. as I have always had a 60 inch bucket for the last 20 years.
My one thought is this I added a QA a few years back and I know I lost a bit of power with it being further out from the pins.I know I lost more than i had thought as I have had this machine for 20 plus years. But it is a good give up to have the ability of the QA.
So my thought is that the dirt would be further back in the bucket and thus easier for it to lift and haul.I made a bucket myself that is deeper than the original. but have felt the resistance. I can only imagine if I got a 'Low Profile' one. how much would resist.
Anyways we are only talking 6 inches here. so.... I think ill go with the wider one..
thanks..

What brand tractor? On my L3200, I had the choice of a 60" bucket or a 66" "light materials" bucket. Both are rated for the same heaped volume of material within a tenth of a yard, so I suspect they make the wider bucket a bit shallower somehow.

My only concerns with a wider bucket is load stability when lifting things up high, and a greater ability to torque the loader arms. Both of which are just something to keep in mind as you operate your Tractor. I would go with the wider bucket and just bit a bit more cautious.

I wanted a bucket that would fit into the box of my pick up....
I then built a bolt on extension to the front of it for carrying snow piles once they get packed down....a full bucket of packed snow/ice weighs over 1000lbs
