/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I can't believe someone even answered! I have been trying on different tractor websites to get an honest opinion and can't even find anyone alive. Thanks a bunch for responding you guys. I looked at the links posted here, and the advice given. I called
Payne's Forks today and actually got to talk to the owner. I now know waaaayyyyy more about clamp on equipment than i ever really wanted to /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif He was a heck of a nice guy, pretty straight forward and definitely not a salesman just trying to push something.
I asked about the lack of upright arms at the back of the forks by the bucket. He said the load would fall in or against the bucket or on the arms depending on what the load was, if it actually shifted backwards. He said most people carrying loads use the bucket to more or less craddle the load, depending on what the load is, and the uprights prevent this. He also pointed out that depending on the load i carried, if it was top heavy or a stacked load, no upright would prevent the load from falling back on me if i was going too fast, or loaded more than common sense said to load.
When i asked him about safety, he said no matter what attachment you buy, the customer always has to use some common sense when handling the load. Which to be fair is true, and goes back to exactly what JimI said in his post with carrying the dirt.
I called some other places listed here and on a few other sites, to be honest i settled on payne for two reasons. Price being number one . Second, the guy actually took the time to explain things to me much like you guys here. As to the difference in price on his forks and others, i would say call the guy he'll tell you. I put him on the spot today a few times and he never got upset and i thought he answered honestly. I can't say how well they work as i wont have them until about wednesday, but i'm really looking forward to trying them out. Thanks again you guys for helping me out with this, now i'll cross my fingers and hope that i did the right thing.
