roto tillers; land pride vs king butter vs woods

I have a KK 6 footer and have really abused it putting in food plots on land that has rocks and a bunch of hedge stumps. It works well and I've never plowed up the ground before using it. I've had no issues with it except I keep bending the skids smashing them into immovable objects. The other thing I did was not realize it didn't have a zerk in the outboard bearing and it got enough dirt in it to grind up those bearings but I've used it that way for two seasons now and just take off the cover and grease it up every year. I have a new bearing on the bench for later. I think parts are pretty readily available if you would need anything. I'd buy another.

I haven't found a field of sod, or ANY pasture for that matter, that I can't till up nicely, with any one of my Howards... You just have to learn how to set them to get a good job...

I do NOT consider a "gear drive" an up grade at all, but it does make for a good sales pitch... lol

My experience tells me that it is not likely that a LP RTA1258 would sell as low as $1300.......more like about $2000. It is a good tiller however and any one of the above would probably serve you adequately. And LandPride does make heavier duty tillers.....at more $$$. On a B model Kubota a heavier duty tiller probably isn't a good match. IMO. In fact, your rear tractor width may need only a 50 inch tiller on a "B" size Kubota.

I'll just add, getting too wide of a tiller is a mistake...

I like to have my tiller just cover the width of my tractor, but I always buy ag tires and that keeps the tractor more narrow, allowing a better sized/matched tiller.

I just hate the way the fat tires ride in the field and I have fields, not a golf course lawn to ride on.

Once you get a tiller then you need the row builder....

This guy has the discs set a bit wide for my liking... I think I have 16 in discs on mine.

the tractor on order has 54" rear tire width. thats why i was looking at 57" or 60" model tillers. the tires were narrower than the turf tires, but wider than the ag tire. i need to mow 4 acres also, so the dealer advised r4 tires because he said the ag tread would tear up the lawn.

i did see an option for tillers that are 48" with an offset for 1 tire coverage, but couldn't go up and back in the garden.

Yep. You get a lot of time to THINK sitting in the tractor seat.

Tom Watson, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison are pleased to note American ingenuity is still alive.

That is mouth-watering, delicious looking dirt in the video.

I have a Woods GTC-60 It has been excellent. Used it for many garden plots and food plots. Every Woods implement I have owned has proven to be worth the extra money paid.
