I am in need of a 60" cutter, 72" might get in the way back in the woods.

I am concerned about 10 gauge deck steel. I currently have the cheapest version of the King Kutter 60".
The deck looks like someone has taken a ballpein hammer on it from the bottom. If I replace this unit I don't want to have the same problem. I thought the professional KK has a 3/16" deck?
Why not a heavy deck option with thicker plate for the ETA cutter?

3/16" is .187"
10 gauge is .135"

Think my current deck is 12 gauge, which is .105"

thanks, Alan.

Thanks for the replacement ripper you sent me the other day for my ETA box blade.

Our cutter is VERY close to the Land Pride RCR1872, both with 10 ga. steel, but we weld our deck on the inside and out where theirs is only welded on the outside.

We use a 10ga deck on our 60" also, where they use an 11ga.

You may try to find some feedback on the LP deck, and keep in mind that ours is beefed up even more.

I compared the under deck of ours to the LP, starting on page 5 of this thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/302810-everything-attachments-rotary-cutter-first-5.html
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

BTW Land pride shows 10 gauge too. Not 11 gauge.
http://www.landpride.com/ari/attach/lp/public/specs/312-849s.pdf

They claim the cutter is for "light duty maintenance" While the ETA is considered Xtreme duty.
Don't know if that is a cutter I would want to compare to if trying to push Xtreme duty.

I like the double shear lower 3ph on both the ETA and land Pride. The upper top link of the hitch looks adequate at best on both. I have completely destroyed my KK hitch and built my own hitch for it.

I am 36 now and want the next to be my last cutter purchase.

I reworded my last post for clarification. We both use 10ga on the 72", but they use 11ga. on their 60"(according to their 2014 price list)
**The spec sheet that you linked contradicts what their price sheet says so they may have changed it.

We greatly improved the deck by welding it on the inside, which will add quite a bit of life to it.
Our cutter is rated up to 2.5" dia. material.
The blades on our cutter are 4" wide vs. 3" on the LP.
Bolt on replaceable skid shoes are standard on our cutter.

My Rhino 172 cutter has 10 gauge deck and sides. It's plenty strong for a medium duty cutter. If you're out cutting 4" brush or mowing rocks, the deck will suffer. But for it's intended use, a 10 gauge deck is good enough.
