Looking to purchase a Kubota MX5200HST. The standard FEL bucket is the 72" light materials version. There's an optional 72" HD round back bucket that's pre-drilled for optional bolt-on cutting edge. We have rocky conditions where the FEL will be put to the test. Is it likely I'll tear up the standard bucket and regret not paying for the HD bucket now? Probably a "duh" kind of question but this is my first rodeo so to speak.

Of you are planning on digging at all, get the HD bucket by all means.

HD bucket would be best. Or you could weld on a cutting edge to the other one if need be

I have the L2296 HD RB bucket on my LA805 FEL. It is 100 pounds heavier than the standard Kubota bucket due to reinforcement. L2296 comes with SSQA (Skid Steer Quick Attach). You do not have to baby a L2296.

L2296 makes a superb, rigid mount for a 110 pound Bucket Spade, the most underrated tractor attachment. Also a wonderful mount for an 88 pound Ratchet Rake.

Photo #5 is Kubota B3300SU with standard 'B' bucket.

Looks like the chain hooks gave it a run for its money though :)

I have the light duty bucket on one tractor. It was the bucket on the tractor when I bought it at the dealer. My others have a much heavier built bucket. If you are going to order or have the option, I would go with the HD bucket for sure. Money well spent if you are going to be using it.

Thanks for everyone's input. Y'all confirmed what I suspected. I will go with the HD bucket. Pictures coming soon.

HD for sure I have had both over the years and the HD round back is a far superior bucket and a good value for the money. Also, consider a toothbar, they really help with digging and grading. This is the first bucket I have put one on and I kick myself for not getting one earlier.
