I agree Larry. I locked mine the first time I used it. Then unlocked it and haven't locked it since. But if trying to do some delicate smoothing work I believe locked would be the way to go. Especially with TnT. I think you could lock the rear blade and then extend/collapse the top link to increase/decrease cut. I think that method would result in a smoother job than trying to control the 3pt height.

I totally agree with you, it is a beast and gives my tractor a workout like it hasn't had with the other boxblade it replaced I wouldn't want anything bigger. I am very pleased with it so far but have to get used to the floating tailgait it makes it very sensitive to the top link settings

I think what you have now is a BB that always wants to cut more. So you'll find yourself lifting on it to control that. This will be an advantage for your tractor by adding traction weight.

With a light BB you usually have it fully lowered and hoping it digs in when it hits the high spots. Then when it does dig in you find yourself spinning out until you can react and add traction by lifting.

I believe you will never consider selling that tool. And best of all, if you ever decide to grow into a larger tractor it will still work. I use mine on my M9540.

Agreed, I use mine on our M8540HDC as well as my L5740HSTC and it works well on both. I have the rear tires on my 5740 filled and added wheel weights to help with traction. Even on the 8540, if I put the rippers down and get a good cut with the blade, it will anchor the tractor even with diff lock and the limited slip front; very versatile and tough piece of equipment.
