I got my self a new Armstrong HD2020-D disc today, 6.5' wide, 20" notched 4mm discs and a little over 1,000 pounds. I'm certain this will be all the disc my tractor wants and know it's going to make putting in food plots so much easier. First pic is it on the forklift, 2nd is next to what I was using as a disc for comparison.

I also finally got the parts to put my Rhino TW72 rotary cutter back together today, she's purring like a kitten now. This thing is running smoother and quieter than it ever has for me. Last couple of pics are how I work on the underside of an 1,100 pound cutter deck. The forklift was blocked with wood and resting on that so I was not relying on hydraulics to keep me safe.

Tomorrow, I have 3 paying mowing jobs (about 5 acres total) and 1 paying disc job so everything will get put to work right away. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Congrats on the new disc harrow and on getting your cutter fixed. I'd be very interested in seeing some action shots and hearing how the disc harrow works when you get a chance to use it. It looks like it is really well built, and it should do a great job.

I'd say grab a bucket of gravel or something and go at it, but honestly with industrial tires I bet it's too much. You would likely make a first pass okay, but once you start getting the soil broke up you need the traction of AGs for a disk that big.

How much it set you back?

:) I had the front end picked up with the bucket, it's about the same weight as my rotary cutter and the tractor moves it around OK. I definitely notice it back there and I don't think this tractor will want any more disc than this but I think it'll be able to pull it.

$1800ish, after tax. $1730 before. I probably could have found one cheaper but my sales guy has treated me fairly and this was not a bad deal.

R4s will work depending on soil. Here's a shot of my 24/20

That certainly look much stouter than the model I got from TSC. Mine just has the angle iron frame but it works ok for the green fields/plots that I use it for. Mine is a 6 1/2' disc and the old 8N I used it with, before getting the new Kubota, would really grunt when picking it up...lol

Used it this morning, tractor pulls it just fine, I was able to run in low, high range for 95% of the work, although I did need to engage my FWD.

Pics show pass 1, 2, 3 and the end result. I'm very happy with the performance, it's worlds better than the little 4' angle iron disc with friction bearings we were using.

I'm not sure, I hadn't changed them. They were about as aggressive as they could be set though.

C4Ranch, yours is an Armstrong as well? It's a nicely built disc, I'm looking forward to getting some more hours on it.
