I have an old 6ft Hardee rotary cutter that I need a new PTO shaft for. Had this cutter hooked to an old tractor for many years. Just bought a new tractor and the PTO shaft wont go on the PTO. Looks like over time the spkines have twisted. It is a Hardee model number T 166 LT. Does anyone know where I can buy this part?

Can you not buy replacement pto shafts at Tractor supply?
Or does it have to be a Hardee specific shaft?

I've never bought a PTO shaft so I don't know if I need a Hardee specific shaft or not. I will check around some of the local agr-equipment stores though.

Thanks for the help!

IF not specific to Hardee, then they are just a generic pto shaft.
good luck

You might just need a new "end" on the shaft, probably a U-joint yoke. I would not think it to be too expensive to have done at a shop that repairs PTO shafts, if you don't want to try to change-out the yoke yourself. Make sure the rest of the shaft is "good" before replacing parts of it.

A new shaft might have safety guards your old shaft does not have- something to think about. And maybe a slip clutch instead of a shear pin, which you might want??

A photo or two of the cutter end of the PTO shaft, and of the input shaft of the cutter, would probably get you more suggestions.

The U-joint yoke is exactly what I need, but failed to put into words. And yes... I think a new shaft could have some safety guard challenges. That is why I was asking about the particular model.

I just got off the phone with Hardee and got the new spline yoke ordered for $59.92 plus shipping!

Thanks for everyone's help!
