Adding on a tool box

Don't know what tractor you own but here is a picture of an ammo box that I mounted on my BX2200.

That first picture was a little dark. Attached is a better one. I used existing holes on the ROP to mount the bracket.

John,

Yours is the other one I was interested in for my BX. Question I have for you since you have had that for about a year if I remember correctly.

Do you find yourself hitting it while turning around or in any other situations? Does it hinder your view when doing something with a rear attachment or backing up?

Your installation is definitely a clean nice looking job.

Pineridge... thanks for fixing my picture.

Surfran... No problem with blocking your view (at least it hasn't caused me a problem). However, there is not much space between the seat back and the toolbox. If I ever take it off for some reason, I will move it back a half inch or so. Other than that it works great. You would be surprised how much that box holds. Holds everything that I need. I attached a front view. I also have a picture of the bracket if you need to see it.

John,

Thanks I have your old post in my favorites so that when I finally get around to it, I will put a toolbox on. Either your style or the Craftsman one. Will decide that when I finally decide to do it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Milkman,

Do I see wires going into the weep holes at the base of your ROPS? Did you DRILL your ROPS to install lights? I'm gonna tell ... I'm gonna tell ......

Now, on the original topic, anybody got any ideas on where to put a toolbox on the BX22/23?

Now I see the problem for you, the backhoe requires you to have access through the areas of the ones posted already.

Maybe you could mount something to the FEL support arm. I am thinking someone has done this with an ammo box, but could be mistaken.

( If you can make it fit go for it. Just be sure it has a hinged cover & latch cause you don't want thing bouncing out. )

In fact, if you USE /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif your ROPS you don't want 30lbs of tools
or the metal box coming lose and whacking you in the head.
Tool boxes need to be very secure as do their lids. I suspect
the amo box idea is a good one for that reason.

Cliff is making a good point about secure mounting. My bracket to hold my box is 1/8" steel, the screws holding my box to the bracket are all stainless steel, and the top of the box is always locked when I am not in it.

I don't want to see anything bounce out while I am moving, and I don't want to see the whole box come free if I happen to tip the tractor. . . if that box came lose in a spill, it would make a nasty mark on my otherwise beautiful face and the wife would be really upset with me.

No matter what type of box you decide to use, make sure it stays stuck on your tractor and make sure it stays closed.
