I wouldn't worry about damaging the bush hog when dragging it off, just protect the trailer from damage. If you have a flat bed trailer as in a car-hauler without any rails, simple job to use your FEL and put it on. Use some protective skid lumber to protect the trailer when dragging it off. You aren't going to hurt the bush hog. Just remove the extended portion of the drive shaft, tie up the other section and drag it off.
