As you adjust the disc gangs, total width of the Disc Harrow changes. The LESS aggressive, straighter, the gangs are set, the greater the total width of the implement.

So, seems you've done a lot of research on these things. I just went to look at a used Linebach with my tape in my hand. Its a 20x20 all notched with 7 1/2"spacing. Seems very lightly used with the large threaded adjusters, about 7' max width in the rear, gangs almost straight across. he's asking $1200.Good fit for my L3540 HST you think? Price seems ok to me..

You want the Disc for food plots and over unbroken ground penetration is key.

Seven and one half inch spacing gives more float/less penetration. You may have to wait for days with optimal soil moisture to cut. Fortunately, most food plot seeds are strong germinators.

Easy gang angle adjustment via screws is more valuable with 9" pan spacing than 7-1/2" pan spacing, where you have less penetration ability. However, easy gang angle adjustment is worth paying additional to have.

20/20/7' is a good size for your L3540. You will be pulling it in HST/MED with a good bit of throttle, as I do my Tufline. (My L3560 has 70" tire width with R4 industrials.)

$1,200 is a good price. My 20" Tufline was double $1,200.

I have no personal experience with Leinbach implements but from reading TBN they enjoyed a good reputation.

Ring the pans if you bring the Leinbach home, to be sure axle nuts are TIGHT.

This may be a dumb question but could you remove some of the discs to get better penetration and then reinstall them if wanted?

Not practical.

Discs are generally hard to take apart; parts are packed with dust.

Spacers, bearing holders, etc. must hold pans in close alignment or pans will wobble and wallow either pan hubs, axles, or both.

You would need to replace 2/3 of parts.

Thanks Jeff.

Soil penetration did concern me, but my soil is mostly sandy loam (more like dirty sand). And yes, food plots and such are my main goal.. that and getting a garden set up..

I just may have to go do some horse trading with the guy see what I can get it for.
