Tractor
Kubota L5240 HSTC
Picked up a used RCR2596 3pt on Monday and got it unloaded today. Was hoping to test it but ran out of daylight and still need to check the slip clutch runout.

Tractor is a L5240 HSTC with a rated 45 PTO hp.

Here's a pic pulling it into the shed to grease it up and check fluid and slip clutch before first use.

Oddly I hit my curl relief. Guess it's hanging out there pretty far. No problem lifting. Had my Gannon as counter weight.

This will be some of my testing grounds. Used to be ankle high. Now it's above the roof of the ranger in spots.

Looking forward to seeing how you like it, its a nice looking cutter for sure.

Nice having the HST, you can go as slow, or as fast as power allows

Nice rotary cutter. I use a 6'er behind my 5240 and have thought of moving up to a 7' or 8' so I'll be interested to hear your review.

Best quality cut iv ever gotten was with AGs and the wheel track set wider than the cutter. You can go faster in unflattened grass which offsets, somewhat, the loss in cut width with a narrower cutter.

It should do just fine. My M7040 handles it without a hiccup.

But it takes all 70 HP in wheel high grass. You may want to run it in a lower gear since it is a HSTC. Just play it by ear.

Alright, put it to work.

Used M range turtle most of the time, popped up to rabbit a few times and couldn't really tell a difference.

Handled just fine but I was going slow because it was so tall I couldn't see where I was going.

100 degrees out and temp only went up one bar from half way (normal operating temp). I have a digital dash do I can monitor PTO rpm to the digit. Most of the time it would bounce between 530-540. Every now and then it would drop into the 520s but that's only like 100 engine rpms. My 540 is at 2600 rpm so it would hit 2500 cactus brought it down most of the time and I cut several stalks that were 1+".

I'm glad I have a 3pt. Found several rocks and hovered higher than norm for a while.

Pics next.
