Better to long than to short! It a good idea to leave a couple of the side links extra. If the extra "loose" links clang on the fender just tie them out with a plastic cable tie.

As in most things, you get what you pay for. I looked a the net for chains also. Ended up buying through NAPA. They can get tire chains from Security Chains. The cost 75 buck more but fit like a dream., Although a bit of a pain to put on, the chains weight about 70 lbs per side!

The front chains just barely clear the steering arm and adjusting knuckle. Only a little paint has been knicked off the steering arm (the big plate)) -whew.

When I put them on, I installed the chains extra tight and used some wire to pull the locking arm closer to the tire. In hind-sight, I think I can expend muscle ess energy if I remove 80% of the air pressure from the tire before I mount the chains. Then adding air pressure should make them fit nice and snug-w/o the hard part of setting the locking arm.

I have put about 5 hours of tractor time on them and everything is going well. I am quite pleased.

I looked at a 2410 and 2910 on a dealer's lot and the 2410 steering arm is MUCH farther away from the front tire/rim than on a 2710/2910. I suspect the B2400 that you have is more like the 2410. With R4 tires on a 2710/2910, there is literally only about 3/4" clearance between the tire/rim and the arm. It's incredibly close.

For those with 2710/2910 models, don't jump to the conclusion that you can use front chains because they can be used on a B2400 like PKS has. Unfortunately the clearances are quite different.

I got a front set of chains for my 2910 from BB chain and there was no way at all that they would clear the steering arm. I asked about lighter gauge chain and they felt lighter chains would just break and that I'd be wasting my money. So for now, I'll see how I make out with just rear chains.

Put my rear chains on last night. Just did a quick fit and with no instructions I got them on in about 15 minutes per tire. I'll take them off and tweak them a little for a better fit but I'm happy with the results so far. Not easy as the links are all 3/8" and each set weighs about 45lbs. I thought the $162 price tag was pretty reasonable too.

For what it's worth, I bought chains last year from Tirechains.com for my TC21D and I thought the service was great. I got the chains within 48 hours and the total price including shipping what cheaper than I was quoted from the parts store. I had to cut the chains to length but the whole process of fitting them only took about 45 minutes and that was cutting the chains with a hacksaw. And now i've got 4 spare cross links in the tool box.
How close do you think they should supply the chains to the length you need, 1 extra link, 2 extra links? Thats not much to work when you consider how much the tire diameter can vary. Anything over 2 extra links your are going to have to cut off anyway, so they might as well give you a lot of extra chain.
