Tractor
Kabota B2320 Narrow
Using a rotary cutter and backing into 6-7ft high solid blackberries. I have a Kubota B2320 so I cannot plow through and flatten them before they are cut with the rotary cutter. The cutter is 48" and will raise it up and back into the berries. I had two quotes, one for $3000 and one for $4200. Both quotes were 3 to 4 days of work. I figure if I were to use my tractor and rotary cutter it would take me 4 to 5 weekends to get it done and wanted to get your opinion on how long it would take me. Much appreciated in advance!

Well, I haven't seen your land or the berries, but I would put my guess at about 2 weekends. Maybe less.

Thanks. The land is flat and does not have any stumps, old cars or sheds. No big rocks either. It used to be a vineyard so the 60" row spacing trellising is still there and I want to keep it intact.

We will see what some more experienced brush hoggers will say, but if you shred em for an hour or two you will soon know how it is going to go.

If you have a FEL on your tractor consider adding a Ratchet Rake to your bucket. Nothing better for tearing out brush and Blackberries. Then, run over debris with your Bush Hog.

After you Bush Hog the Blackberries, consider pulling a Field Cultivator over the roots.

Are you just mowing the middles in between the trellis rows?

I give up. Why cant you just go forward? It would save a lot of time. A 1400 pound 4wd tractor should roll right over blackberry bushes.

Do you have pics of the area you want to cut, if you can post some that too would help us give you some info.
