LoganWildman,
I posed this same question a few weeks back when deciding on what tractor I was going to purchase. A lot of good imput. You can view the imput by going back a few pages in the General area under Owning/Operating. The thread is titled, "To PTO Pump or Not to PTO Pump." I even had differing opinions from the dealers. Oh, what a suprise. My tractor of choice was the Kioti LK3054XS. This is an updated model with a large hydraulic pump. I decided to send an e-mail to Kioti for their opinion and they got back to me within 5 minutes. I have attached the response from one of the service engineers. Now, this is only for my model, but I thougth this might be of help to you as well.

"The LK3054 is designed to operate a backhoe from the tractors hydraulics. Contamination is not a problem because the system is filtered before it gets to the gear pump. Normal hydraulic operating temp is a minimum of 140 degrees F. in our Kioti Tractors and overheating of the transmission is not a problem. The engine temperature would not increase using the hydraulics any more than using the PTO in the transmission to operate a separate pump. Don't spend the money for a separate pump, it is not needed."

If you go by this, you may spend the pump money on a separate hydraulic outlet or possibly another piece of equipment.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Lablovers.

Sorry I can't help with the original question, but reading the above statement got me thinking. If one were to borrow or rent a hyd powered attachment, should it be flushed out and filled with same fluid thats in your tractor? If so , what would be the best way to do it? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

IMO, tractor hydraulics if it has enough GPM and is only being used on your tractor.

My L3130 hydraulics can run 8.3 GPM vs 9 for the PTO pump.
Thats enough to run the hoe just fine. Besides if you go with the tractor hydraulics you will have a remote. You can use the remote for other things like an HTL, dump trailer, etc..
