Just wanted to let those interested in a new 8″ PTO Wood Chipper I would like to suggest that you consider the new Woodland Mills 8" PTO Hydraulic feed unit. I am a property owner that has recently bought a 15 acre property that had been neglected by the previous owner. Approximately 14 acres of beautiful Maple and pine forests however the sumac's have taken over and filled the property in. I have been researching numerous units that are available and found that I needed a minimum 6" wood chipper. I looked at everything and couldn't take a serious look at the new Woodland Mills unit for the money. Granted, it is not designed necessarily for a commercial user but for what I require it has proven to be a fantastic unit. I run it on my Kubota L6060 and have learned that you running this at approximately 520-530 RPM it chip's most everything I try. The hydraulic in-feed control is very useful and for the money I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a solid chipper for your personal use. Yes, it is manufactured in China and I certainly try to buy domestic where it makes sense, however there is nothing close to this for the money and quality.

Woodland Mills was fantastic to deal with and after approximately 3 months of use, I must say this is a Great unit and would tell anyone that they will not be disappointed with this. Love to hear other users feedback and happy chipping.

Unit is running real well. It gets used regularely by myself and I just ordered the replacement maintenance kit (Blades, belts etc) just to have on hand for the future so I don't have to wait for parts. Maintenance kit was in-stock and received it in 2 days. Overall the unit is excellent and I would highly recommend to anyone that this is a great investment.

No problem at all Peter,I use a 60HP Kubota L6060 and run it around 460 RPM on average and it does a nice job and easy on equipment.

Hi Brad,

I am currently looking into getting a chipper. At first I was considering getting the WoodMaxx WM-8H, which I still think would be a good choice based on other people's feedback. I just recently discovered the Woodland chipper you purchased. I was curious if you were familiar with the WoodMaxx chipper I mentioned at the time of your purchase, and if so, what swayed you in that direction. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ

Russ, what product will you be chipping the most? I would say the Woodland Mills is a great choice for small to 5" hard wood, spruce etc. The WM is a great unit and has stood up very well. Just picked up a Vermeer BC1000XL for the big stuff but the WM is a great choice for lot cleaning etc.

Hi Sparky,
Sorry I didn't see your response sooner - I didn't get an email notification. Anything over 4" I would use as firewood, but I think it's nice to have a larger capacity opening to pull in forked branches. I live in AZ, where we have a lot of citrus trees, so I would be chipping those as well as other types of stuff. I'm mainly curious about the woodland's 8" model versus the woodmaxx 8" model. When I spoke to woodmaxx, they claimed that the woodland mills is just a copy of their chipper and not as good quality. There aren't very many if any reviews of the woodland mills, so it would be good to here from an actual owner, especially one that may be familiar with the woodmaxx.

I did look at the Woodman however found the WM to be quite pricey (as I am a Canadian) and would be buying in USD plus the freight & Brokerage. Comparatively I believe the Woodland Mills is as sturdy and an excellent 8" unit. I would definitely recommend the Woodland Mills any time. Good luck.
