Looks like one heck of a rake, and maybe it could replace a disc, but I don't see how it could replace the blade function of a boxblade.

Any idea what these might cost?

Maybe I miss something about that new unit.
How does one pull the soil to another location,also what about hard soil {rocks etc..}use.
Indeed it look great for finishing landscaping and well built.

If you should get the video let us know more about it.....okay.

what a coincidence! I stumbled across the info on the TR3 rake just last night myself.
One site I saw had some prices and even though it looks like a great implement, it was far too pricey for me.

Why do these guys price these things so dang high? I mean they can't have more than a few hundred dollars in materials. Wouldn't it make more sense to price and sell quantity rather than selling a few and scalping the person buying it? I bet even at under a thousand dollars they would still make a good profit and they would sell way more. You see this on all these implements for compact tractors, prices sky high! I just go to farm sales and buy mine for a tenth the price. I probably don't have $1k in my disc, rake, plow, harrow, box blade, and sprayer for the compact tractor.

Pricing is all about marketing. First-to-market with a new innovation will always price high to recover tooling and development costs. If the innovation catches on a competitor will likely copy it and sell cheaper as he didn't have to do all the development work. That will force the first guy to lower his prices and erode his margins. His only protection is through patents.

This is exactly what happens in pharmacueticals (sp?) (as I'm sure you're aware). Only difference is the magnitude of the development costs for a new drug are so many times higher that that for a new farm implement (or car parts in my case). Then the public pressures the company to lower the price on the latest life saving drug which only eats into that companies ability to continue further drug developments. Patent protection exists for a reason!

Yes you are completely right about drug companies. I think they scalp people as well. Difference is that people need medications at one time or another and don't need tractor implements as a matter of life and death and that is where I think the drug companies are all the more wrong. I could tell you stories about those guys that would make your hair stand on end. But enough of that. I certainly understand about marketing and patents and all but it just seems that simple logic would sell and make more money than high prices. But, hey, what is logical in this world anymore.

That same machine has been in Eastern's online catalogue for about 3 years under the Mcmillen name?
