I received the winch yesterday and installed in on my tractor. No issues aside from dropping a 17mm wrench down into the cable drum. A magnet, bailing wire and a long screw driver retrieved it though. Now I just need to get busy....

Thanks for all the advice you guys!

Very Nice! Why aren't you using the lower pulley?

Thanks. I'll use it when I'm skidding logs. For winching, I'll use the top pulley and when the logs get close, I'll put the cable through the lower pulley, snug them up to the blade and skid to a location keeping the weight lower to the ground. This is what I've learned from the op manual and advice from others.

Ha! My wife turned blue when seeing the invoice....

Just bring her out when you've got a tree that got hung up on the way down. Show her how you can hook up the rope and pull the tree to the ground from a safe location 150' away.

Also, you could show her how well they hold their value even after decades. Maybe she'll feel better knowing that if you drop a tree on yourself she'll get most of the money back.;)

Congrats on the winch though. Have you had a chance to pull anything around yet?

Big log or hard pull, with a small tractor = winch from the bottom pulley... Then hook the skidding chain in the slot on the winch to pull the log with the tractor...

On small logs and/or a bigger/heavier tractors, you can safely winch from the top pulley.

Thanks, nope, haven't got to use it yet as our property is 105 miles away. It's our future retirement place. Planning on taking it over there tomorrow and using it though.
