tooth bar question

I have a JD 1025R and I am looking for a good, economical, aggressive type tooth bar to put on my bucket. My problem is that there are so many companies out there making tooth bars, I do not know which direction I should go. Does anyone have any recommendations. Please advise

Prepare for about a dozen recommendations for a ratchet-rake. :confused3:
And another dozen for a Paranah (sp?) serrated bar.
Both very useful tools but neither a tooth bar.

I'm not sure good & economical go together. It may depend on what your primary use is going to be?
I use the Bxpanded piranha $300. It's pretty good at digging, but is better at clearing brush. Some with longer tines might be better at digging. There's tooth bars and just teeth that bolt on.

WR Long is a good place to start for a real tooth bar (i.e. for digging in undisturbed soil or sod).

I agree with luke - you can't go wrong with WR Long for a good and aggressive tooth bar. It is not cheap but it is worth the money if you need one. I got mine thru Everything Attachments.

Yup, WR Long is a good one, as is Tisco, which is what I use on my 72" bucket on my larger tractor. Similarly priced. For aggressive digging in difficult conditions, a real tooth bar like those (i.e., with individual, extended teeth) gives better penetration that the Piranha bar because the point loads on contact are greater. The teeth also extend farther beyond the cutting edge of the bucket, so they give more support when trying to handle logs longer than the bucket's width. There are definite trade-offs, though. The tooth bar won't cut through brush like the Piranha when clearing, won't back-drag as smoothly, and I think is more of a hindrance than a help when trying to move snow if you leave it on all year.

Actually, how much serious digging do you think you'll be doing with your tractor? If it's only occasional, I think I'd be inclined to recommend the Piranha for a SCUT your size because of its versatility.

Don't do a half job.
Get a real tooth bar and you will think you have a new machine.
A tooth bar will do everything a ratchet rake will but the inverse is not true.

titan has a tooth bar also reasonably priced, just ordered one delivery set for next fri will have some updates then, about to order a titan quick attach 3point adapter also
