Hey Everyone,

I have a LS4150 with dual remotes. I'm thinking about using one for a hydraulic top link. We are using the LS primarily for field cultivation, road maintenance and bush hogging. None of my growing collection of implements uses hydraulics and I don't see any in my near future.

So, I'm asking what are the pros and cons of a hydraulic top link.

Pro's-on the fly adjust-ability others?

Cons??????

What implements are you using or planning on buying for the road maintenance? I ask because a hydraulic top link is a real help for some of these tools.

I honestly can't think of a con, we use them on all our tractors with rear remotes and it helps no matter what we have on the 3PH and helps hooking up equipment.

For rear blade and box blade use the hydraulic top link is great, but I'd recommend getting an additional hydraulic side link to really make those implements get more done in less time. It's amazing how much time it saves, just by letting you make little adjustments and see immediate results. An unexpected benefit is using top & tilt cylinders when the (manual feed) wood chipper is on the back - it makes getting the chipper to self feed a lot easier by adjusting the angle of the feed chute. Brian, at FitRite, did me a square deal.

I would also recommend Brian who is a member here for purchasing the top and tilt products. He does a great job with this and is well respected on this site. Here is a link to his site. Fit Rite Hydraulics - fitritehydraulics.com

Cons: cost, extra parts to fail (I still don't have great hose routing & have some related hose issues on mine)

Pros:
Best mod I've done on my tractor, I'd do it again in a heartbeat at twice the price.
Due to my TnT (Toplink & Tilt link) & Quick Hitch I can pick up any implement without getting off the tractor, no matter how crooked its sitting.
Makes running a box blade a dream. I can tilt forward to engage scarfires as needed from the seat. My L3200 has a notoriously jerky 3pt, but I can get excellent smooth driveways with the toplink. Tilt a hair forward to fill the box a bit faster, tilt back to smoothly make the box empty faster.
On my mowers I leave the toplink in float so that it follows contours nicely, but when I need to back over a ditch or swing the mower over something, I can lock it straight so it sweeps the ditch without falling in & twisting things up. I can lift the mower way up for clearance loading or maintenance (use a safety brace) at will to.

On my utility tractor which I use for all sorts of random stuff, my TnT has doubled the utility factor, its just so convenient. I'll never own another tractor without it.

Same here... Haven't found a con yet. One of the bet improvements I've made to my tractor.

Con, It ties up a remote. I use mine with a Harley rock Rake. It's great, but it's even greater using a quick attach set up. You extend the top hook which is rather deep, just grabbing the top pin a little ways, then pull the bottoms into place using the hyd top link, then lift. Puts a smile on my face, rather then fighting with the **** three point hitch!
