Morning everyone! I want to buy a box blade for my JD750 tractor. I will be using it to maintain my gravel driveway. There is a 48" box blade on CL for a decent price. I measured my outside distance on my rear turf tires and it is 52". Should I hold out for a 60"?

General consensus is yes. However, if you need something now, you could get it for temp use and keep your eye out for another and flip the 4' when you get it.

Yes, wait for a 60", or even a 54". But I would not go 48".

What thespoon wrote.

You'll only lose a little width.

I've used a 60" (originally bought with my B7610) on my M4700 (80" wide) and it was a lot better than nothing.

Thanks guys. I called, light duty with no rippers. I will keep looking.

I'd recommend a 72" landscape rake instead of the box blade. Its lighter. Get one with gauge wheels on the back behind the tines. Let the top link float with a chain. I have a 72" box blade as well as an 8' York rake. Angled rake will comb material towards the center and fill in holes and divots. Then you top it off with the rake at zero angle. A box blade with rippers works well on the county road which is packed hard. Then I follow up with the rake.

I put extra weights on my rake to make it dig better. Driveway looks and drives wonderful. Best to trim it once every so often for best results before the gravel sinks and packs into the dirt.

I think I need the box blade with rippers to start because it has been neglected to the point where it is packed hard and developed a crown.

I ran a 4' on a yanmar 1702. It's almost the same as your tractor just a hint smaller. It was about 50" wide at rear tire. There were times I wished I had a 5' in ideal conditions. But that 4' was a nice fit when I wanted to get in to tight spots. With the 4' with rippers down there were times when it would stop the tractor and I had loaded agg tires and wheel weights and front loader.
