KUBOTA 6800
I just bought a Kubota m6800 (rops). Needing attachments now 😁. Got my 7' bush hog. Want to buy land pride grading plane.
My question is whether or not a hydraulic scraper blade is worth the extra $$$$. Also 7' or 8'? Hydraulic or not? Be using it for drive ways, ditching and snow.

Thank you

Go get on your tractor, drive it for 50' and stop. Get off and go to the back of the tractor. Now do that every 50'- 500' for as far as you have to go. Only you know if you like stopping and going all the time as well as getting on-off the tractor all the time.

While you can get by with manual adjustments, (lots of people do) hydraulic is the way to go. Of course then you also need all the controls on the tractor to control all those hydraulics.

Here is the perfect blade for you. An RBT3596, either manual adjusters or hydraulic, just a good blade all around. Be sure to get it with skid shoes. If you decide that you want to go hydraulic, let me know, I can probably save you a few hundred and supply you with welded cylinders instead of the tie rod units that LP provides.

I used to use a blade for clearing snow. It was manual - having hydraulic would have made life way easier and faster!!! I learned quickly to plan my snow clearing such that I minimized the number of times I'd have to get off to swing the blade angle. Not sure how big your tractor is so can't comment on size. I don't use the blade as much now but I think I will add a cylinder to it one day.

Hydraulic is the way to go. As the old saying goes, don't worry, its only money. Ken Sweet

HYD is the way to go. Size to be determined by how wide your tires are and will the blade cover the tracks when angled. I use an 8' with HYD tilt, angle and offset, My old blades were all manual and after finally buying a HYD blade all I can say is why didn't I do it sooner as it makes the job a easy and faster. Well worth the extra expense if you have a lot of blade work to do and especially if the ground you need to work isn't all level. Remember that weight is your friend when selecting a blade

I put a hydraulic cylinder on my LandPride back blade, it was nice. Of course I recently sold it & bought a blower.

I have a manual truck plow on the loader. I'm off to go pick up a hydraulic truck plow I got at an auction today. $150, but was listed as needing work. From the pictures it was just messed up mounting brackets, which will get replaced with SSQA anyway.

Hydraulics are worth it if you do a decent amount of work.

Thanks guys... At double the price I was expecting more people against it; but it seems it does make life that much easier. I'll look into buying one when I get the $ up. Thank you

None of these guys mentioned money. It's easier to say "hydraulic" when it's not your money. Buy what you can afford and justify. Rear blades have been used for decades without hydraulics. If this is an attachment that you are going to use 3 or 4 hours a year you might want to think hard about hydraulics. If you plan to use it at least a few days a month, then hydraulics are better justified.

If money is no object to you, knock yourself out. :)

Yep. How much use it sees and what type of use would be a big factor in determining it hyd is worth the money

That was well put.
