My winch just died today and I need help fast. The clutch or friction plate that is glued to the big gear has fallen apart. Can you just replace the ring or do you have to buy the whole gear? if so , how do you glue a new one on? Where do you get the parts? Does anyone know the part numbers? I've still got a bunch more wood to cut before we get too much snow.

Thanks, I called them and they have the disc. However they do not know how to attach it to the gear. So I still have a big problem m

You'll need to use a "friction lining bonding adhesive" it's made by several manufacturers, if you have a clutch or brake band rebuilder nearby it might be easier to have them do it for you.

I was quoted $140 for the bare clutch disc at Labonville and was given no way of attaching it. However, a company in Bangor, ME called Traction quoted me $160+/- to send it out to a specialty shop and they will properly fix it including parts. This is what I am doing tomorrow.

What is the technique used to put this thing back together when I get the new parts? It was hard enough to take apart! How do you keep the 3 little pins in place and how do you get the spacer in place on the other end of the shaft? Do you lay the whole thing down? I am worried about this.

Today the rebuilt clutch arrived from Traction in Hermon, ME. and it looks great! They glue the friction plate or lining on, clamp it, then bake it in an oven. I had to lay the whole winch down in order to put it back together and I needed another person but it didn't take that long. I'll try it out this weekend.
