2012 Kioti CK27HST w/cab
I am in the process of pricing out a backhoe for my CK27 Kioti. One place has a 3pt backhoe with self contained pump and hydraulic tank for $5,800.oo + $500.oo for a 12" bucket + 13% tax =$7119.oo
The other one has a sub frame and is a genuine Kioti BH with a 12" bucket for $8,850.oo + 13% tax = $10,000.50
$2,881.50 seems an awful lot for a sub frame.
Which would be better for me?
The plan is for digging trenches, uprooting trees and digging stumps.

The Kioti BH is engineered for that tractor. I think in the long run you will get more work and less downtime with the Kioti BH. Also, the sub frame will put less stress on the tractor.

A three point back hoe will brobably not do the tasks you have listed unless you have very light sandy soil.
In the long haul the sub frame attachment will be a better investment and potentially a better resale.

The owner's manual for my tractor states to NOT use a 3pt backhoe, check what your manual says.

Well there is nothing wrong with a self contained pump an hydraulic tank, I have one myself. But then I have a subframe mount also.

I'd keep looking and be patient. Last fall I found a backhoe with a subframe for a NH tractor. I made the frame brackets myself and modified the subframe on the backhoe and mounted it up to my tractor. (Ck20) Works great. My cost after tax for the bh and to make the mounts etc was around $3500 Canadian. Even if I got a welder to do the work to make the subframe work I can't see it costing that much more - All in maybe $4000?

BTW keep your eye open for any decent bh even a 3pth style one, you can always start out using it (carefully don't cowboy it) and then at a later date get a subframe made up for it. No question a subframe is a way nicer way to use a bh on a tractor if it's an option.

Some good ideas here. One thing is for sure, you definitely want a subframe, and you do not want a three point hitch backhoe. And especially not if you are going to be digging out stumps.

Yes, a subframe made to fit your specific model IS more expensive initially, BUT that difference in price upfront will pale by comparison to what you could do so far a s damage to your tractor from a 3PH mounted hoe.
There is nothing more strenuous on a hoe and tractor than trying to dig out stumps. Ask any skilled excavator operator - they'll tell you even with a big excavator, stumps are a bear.
Subframe or nothing!

I remember reading a story where a three point back hoe broke and crushed the operator............
