bringing this up again. I move alot of gravel, 3/4-1" at the largest and a decent amount of dirt.. Its a long process with the 72" bucket, I've been thinking hard about that 84" bucket...although a dump trailer would be even better, but I dont have one.

I've had my 78" bucket over full with crushed gravel and my opinion is it was enough weight for the front tires (360mm wide radials with 20 PSI in them) How far are you going? I wouldn't want to be going at any rate of speed with that kind of weight in the bucket. I have a dump wagon so I move dirt in it.

I have a 72" bucket for my M6040. With the bucket installed, loaded rear tires and rear blade on - it will weigh right around 9800#. I do not move snow with my bucket - only dirt, gravel and rocks so width is not really important. I've found that total tractor weight is a critical factor.

I'm very sure your Kubota will handle an 84" bucket - particularly dealing with snow.

Here is my thoughts. Looks like your tractor has the hp to handle a 7 ft bucket. Question is can the rest of the Tractor handle it. I got a koyker #5 loader with a 7 ft bucket. That loader/bucket is extremely rugged and solid. Can't compare it to this new stuff that tends to fall apart. That being I'm not afraid to lift 3000+ pounds with it, just have to put some weight on the back of the tractor. Now this tractor I got this loader on is 40+ years old and way more rugged and solid than this new stuff.
Here is the problem with new stuff. Everything is light weight and if you start "pushing envelopes" they won't take it and something breaks. Here is an example: I have a newer 30 hp 4x4 tractor with factory loader. That whole outfit is a disposable throw away set up. Loader/ bucket has dress cracks in the welds and metal. Tractor itself has had constant front end trould. There is just not enough tractor there to handle heavy use like dirt work and handle sand and gravel. As far as you putting a 7 ft bucket on your tractor, if you do a lot of heavy use with you loader, you may start having issues with the loader arms and/or front end. Now, if you put the 7 ft bucket on and just kind of pudder along using to lift heavy objects, pull fence post, load machinery (like pick up a brush hog and load it on a flat bed trailer), take it a little easy handling dirt, gravel and sand then you'll probably be ok. Might check, putting a 7 ft bucket on the tractor might void the warranty.

We do put them on! Proper ballasting is always important as well as having the right attachments. kubota is one of the few companies that builds the loader to match the tractor from where it is fastened to the tractor for optimum balance and matching load capacity. You can add up to three sets of weights to the rear as well to offset the larger loads. My favorite counter balancers always are on the three point as it will use the rear axle for a pivot reducing the load on the front axle.

I 'll put my koyker #5 up against any Kubota loader that goes on a 100 hp or smaller tractor. I know a 2 different guy that had Kubota tractors with loaders. One guy broke an arm and had front end trouble. The other guy had lots of front end trouble. Both guys now own John Deere tractors. So unless Kubota has got a whole lot better in a hurry, I'd be Leary. I don't have a kubota, and probably will never own another cause I had a basket full of problems with a Kubota. My current tractor is 30 hp 4×4 with factor loader. It is not Kubota but is definitely junk. Need to turn the clock back about 40-50 years on these tractors and start over. Need to take yesterdays ruggedness and mix it with today's technology. The you would have a tractor that would be a real best seller.

Seems like an unfair broad-brush assessment of Kubota strength. Mine has a very sturdy front drive axle profile and configuration, and FEL. If you read through posts on this site, it will be shown to produce complains about Deere tractors and their issues. Just think it is difficult to generalize across an entire brand due to an isolated personal experience or two. Go to ORANGE TRACTOR TALKS, find many positive Kubota reviews based upon actual experience.

Yea, to get that bucket would be an $1100 dollar expense. I'm gonna stick with what I have. I'm not too worried about the strength of the front end. Most 7060's I've seen had the larger bucket already. Maybe in the next 5 years I'll get an M62 TLB! :)

I have a 6 year old Kubota. I also have a 34 year old Ford. Very little similarity in design/build. I see positives in both. I work the snot out of the Kubota overloading the FEL and fromt drive system frequently. No complaints to date.

What I'm say is the frame work, the arms, the bracing, the bucket itself, there is really no comparison in strength, durability and ruggedness. Grant it, the newer tractors have a quicker and faster response time. But, I have a factory loader on a newer tractor and it is basically throw away junk. Loader has crack in the welds and stress cracks. A real winner. The thing is with the koyker loader it is older and you can just look at it and tell you don't have to worry about the loader. I do worry about the front end of the tractor when I get say 2500-3000 lbs up ion the air. Tires get a little squash and I worry about busting a spindle. Don't have a concern in the world about the loader. In the past 40 years or so, they've lightened every thing up and the new stuff won't take what the old stuff would. Farm king builds a good heavy duty loader, and that one would wax my koyker. Just comparing my experience and the new stuff is stacking up very good.
