Thinking about either a King Kutter II or King Kutter Professional ordered from Rural King and factory shipped (same price, can't find definitive info on which model is "better"). Or a new Taylor-way GDT60 of unknown age off the lot of my local JD dealer (which tiller is the same as a King Kutter Professional with different stickers and paint). Of course, the JD dealer wants about $300.00 more than the shipped Rural King price.

KK II or Pro? Rural King drop ship experience? Taylor-Way reputation? Offer the dealer no more than than the Rural King price? Your thoughts?

If you go the KK II route, try Blaine's Farm and Fleet (Wisconsin).
They had the best price (great price on shipping too) on a 60" KK tiller when I bought one 10 months ago.
Agri-Supply has the best price on a 60" tiller. They sell the 60" Caroni (Italian) tiller for $1195.95 plus shipping.
Caroni reviews are excellent!
I would have bought the Caroni, but I did not find out about it until after I bought the KK.
Don't forget: If you buy from the JD dealer you will also have to pay $100 tax.

Take a look at the Bush Hog RT series. Really like mine. You'll have to get from dealer though. Many advantages to that and, the price close to KK.

The Bush Hog 60" tiller looks to be only almost DOUBLE the cost of the Caroni, from Agri-Supply.
Oh well,..... it's only money!

The King Kutter 60" tiller is currently $1555.99 at Blaine's Farm and Fleet.
Shipping is $157.26 (I chose Boothbay zip code 04538 for an estimate)

Total is $1713.25 delivered to your door (no tax).

I would be quite surprised if you could beat that delivered 60" KK price anywhere.
The Rural King price is $1549.97 for the tiller, but $324.83 shipping = $1884.80 (Total cost for the SAME TILLER delivered, from RURAL KING is $171.55 MORE than Blaine's)
My experience buying from Blaine's was excellent.
They even had a $50 gift certificate promotion when I bought.
The KK 60" tiller is one beefy hunk of equipment (ship wt. 690 lbs.), shipped on a pallet, and crated with oak, plus steel banding.
Virtually every KK tiller owner loves their machine, but all will agree that the KK paint quality stinks!

Thanks to you both. I'll take a look at the Bush Hog and the Blaine website.

My Bush Hog RT60G was $1750. Beautiful powder coat (4 colors to choose), reversible, fully assembled, gearbox fluids filled, bearings greased, shaft fitted to my tractor, etc. I recommend buying from a dealer vs Internet even though most of my purchases are done that way. Don't be afraid to negotiate. [/ATTACH] IMG_6028.JPGIMG_6027.JPG

$1750 is a great price (plus $70 Ga. tax?) for the 60" Bush Hog. I am willing to bet that a Bush Hog dealer in coastal Me. would not sell for a price anywhere near that! SURE: Ugarte should definitely give Bush Hog a try, but he should not be surprised if the price is way high!
Bush Hogs are made just across the border from Ga., in Selma, Al., so shipping cost to a dealer near Canton, Ga. is minimal.
Shipping a Bush Hog tiller (ship wt. nearly 700 lbs.) 1450 miles to "coastal Me." is a very significant cost, and a dealer must recover that cost. Shipping distance to your Ga. dealer (Selma, Al. to Canton, Ga.) is only 250 miles. That is only 1/5th the distance to coastal Me. A local yokel with a 10,000 Lb. GVW trailer, a pickup, and a regular class D driver license, would be happy to haul ten Bush Hog tillers 250 miles for $400. That is $40 each!
Volume buyers like Blaine's, or Rural King, buy at MUCH better unit pricing, and get heavily discounted shipping rates, resulting in significantly lower overall costs, which they can then afford to pass on to the consumer.

A 60" rotary tiller seems like too much for an 18-20 pto hp. tractor imo. A 48" would seem to be a better fit.

If your soil is not soft that may make the tractor struggle. I was running a 5' the other day on a 50hp and had it bring the RPMs down in some soil (Clay).
