I've seen 'Rock Buckets' for use on the FEL as well as "Skeleton Buckets". What's the difference? Why would you want to use one instead of the other?

Thanks

Martin

I see the names used interchangeable. Whether they should be? I don't know.

I also think they are interchangeable, but I did an image search and "Skeleton Buckets" showed more for excavators or back hoes.

"Rock Buckets" showed more for loaders and skid steers.

I think one of the differences "could" be that skeleton refers to upright flat iron bars that depending on the thickness may or may not be a severe duty rock bucket. The other version that comes to mind would be the style that has a round rod, some are better than others. The round rod version that paladin makes extrudes the rods at something crazy like 4 million pounds making them super tough but a tad more expensive than the brands that wont tell you what pressure the rod are extruded from. I have been around both when mounted to large frame skid steers and if you want the ability to do some serious prying then a hd rock bucket along the likes of paladin is the way to go, they can take some serious abuse.

I like your interpretation Xfaxman. 'skeleton bucket' for a backhoe and 'rock bucket' for a FEL attachment.

It sort of reminds me of the capstan/windlass confusion some people have.
