I have a 76" "pinch bucket" which is great for clearing an old farm, etc. However it often takes 5 or 6 tries to get a firm clamp on a tree, log or large limb. Before I go fabricating my own teeth, do you folks know of an off the shelf set, like a tooth bar, that would fit the clamping edge of a 4-in-1 bucket ? Keep in mind I am talking INTERNAL bite, not out front of the bucket digging type teeth like the Piranah teeth bars.

Potentially Piranah teeth bars might be adapted to the internal bite of a 4-in-1 bucket BUT they would probably preclude closing the bucket and prevent "normal" scooping and material carrying with the bucket.

Seen any solutions ? Made any yourself ?

I've seen serrations on the edges:

and teeth on the corners, like this excavator bucket:

On the 4 in 1 buckets that I've had, anything on the inside would interfere with complete closing of the "clam" and would need to be removable for gravel/dirt work. I do like your idea, and even if you were to have a bolt on "something" that was for added for say woods clean up work, loosing any dirt from your bucket is usually a good thing segragating the wood from the dirt (burn pile).

OK, I'll go ahead and say it. A grapple solves the problem very well, if you have SSQA capabilities. I'm sure you knew that, though.

I'm a day's drive from my equipment and only get a chance to work with it once a month. Headed there this week to take measurements and study the closure area. As you said the immediate problem would SEEM to be "anything on the inside would interfere with complete closing of the "clam" and would need to be removable." There is however some space in the back of the bucket where inside-mounted teeth might have room to protrude back into the "dozer blade" part just a couple of inches or 3 if I'm lucky. If so, even those short teeth would make a huge difference in my ability to pick up logs, limbs, posts and the like. I'll let you know what I find.

I don't see why you couldn't put on some interlocking teeth like a clamshell bucket. They could be inside or outside. Bolt on so they could be removed if they are in the way for some jobs.

Your are right of course (and I do have the SSQA capability.) My circumstance is running all over an old farm cutting with a 7' bush hog and while doing that I find 4 or 5 times a day I need to use either the bucket or the grapple (if I had one.) First one and then the other. I just have not given up making some slight teeth additions to the 4-in-1 bucket that would make it cover almost all cases. If I fail, then sure, I go get a grapple and add to my collection.

I understand what you're saying. I also have a 4-in-1 and used it for clearing brush and such before the grapple found me. I believe a motivated country boy can find a way to do what you're talking about. It will need to be removable, of course.

A google image search shows some with teeth on the side:
