I'm looking to buy a use rotary cutter for my Kubota L2900.

There is a Bush Hog RZ-60, a Tarter (one with a round back), or a Braber BE-RC500G available on craigslist locally all for about the same price. $700-$750. All 60". All look to be in the same good, but not excellent, condition. I'd be using it for field mowing a few acres and chopping down blackberry bushes.

Can anyone let me know any experience with these brands and/or models? I'd lean toward the Bush Hog because it's the most familiar to me.

Thanks!

Take what I say with a grain of salt but here's what I can share... First, I don't any personal experience with any of the three, but the Braber's that I have seen look amazingly just like a KingKutter, but I cannot say for certain if KingKutter actually makes them for Braber? Does anybody know for sure?? As for the Razor RZ-60, Bush Hog mowers do have a good reputation so I can understand why that one would appeal to you. However, I do believe the RZ-60 is a discontinued model, although I am fairly certain that you can still get parts for it. Also, I *think* that model is considered a light duty mower, the tail wheel is the solid rubber one, not the laminated wheel made of the reinforced nylon sections like most standard duty tailwheels are. However, for mowing a few acres of pasture, it should serve you well, if you get that one.

Without having seen any pictures of the three, I may opt for the Tarter. But, it might be best to take the time to go see each one and talk with the seller and see what his bottom dollar would be. That might help you make your decision. However, I will say that for a used 5ft bush hog, I wouldn't want to pay near $700 for it. That's not too much less than a new 5ft bush hog (at least around here). I generally see decent used mowers (and have sold a used 5ft mower myself) in the $450 to $600 range. However, it might be that in CA, things cost just that much more so maybe $700 might be a decent price for that area? Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Good info. Prices for tractors and implements are high in california compared to what I've seen on craigslist and equipment trader online in other parts of the country. Cheapest I could get a new one is probably $1,000 for a new Countyline at tractor supply co.

I ended up going with the Braber. The other two sold before I had a chance to look at them, haha. But I think the Braber was the best choice anyway. It seems the most heavy duty. And it had VERY low use. It has full I channels around the outside that seem to be much stronger. The metal is nice and thick and it has lots of bracing.

The Braber looks like a good solid unit. They seem to have a good design and a strong gearbox as well as plenty of heft.
