I'm in need of a new cutter and looking at a BH25 in the last few years has any problems come up with them how are they holding up? Are the new models still shipping with a chinese gear box and how are they holding up? I see in the past you could get two different gear boxes is that still the case?

Thanks!

All manufacturers use Chinese gear boxes now to my knowledge. Didn't know you could get option on the gear box on the Bush Hog units. Bush Hog is a great brand with excellent dealer support. I bought a used Brown last year that I am happy with. Little dealer support but parts can be ordered from the factory. The 25 is a good heavy unit that should give you years of service. Woods, Land Pride, Deere, and Rhino are others that make quality units.

I think that whose during the transition period from the 200 series to the BH models but not shire. My dealer didn't give me an option when I whose there. Any idea how hard it's to hook up to a standard cat 1 hitch there seems to be a sleeve setup over the life pins and I can imagine it's going to be a pain to hook up to? Unless to sleeves are for the quick hitch only.

Those units are designed for both cat 1 and 2. The pin will accommodate either hitch ball. Hook up has never been an issue with my Brown cutter. You use the pin that matches your hitch ball.
