I am planting soybeans and corn with my 3pt JD 247 Planter. The planter has dry fertilizer containers with rubber drop tubes. My question is where should the tubes be aimed? The fertilizer drops small amounts continuously and I have been told to keep fertilizer 2" from the seed. So, do I let the fertilizer fall directly into the seed channel or should I tie the tubes to the side a bit so it falls on top of the ground next to the seed channel? Thanks

My 247 has the tubes attached to the disc opener assemblies, which are offset from the seed chutes by about an inch.

Never put fertilizer with the seed. I always do 4"over and 4" down for sweet corn and have done garden beans the same way for decades. Never a problem and everyone marvels t the garden. personally, I would do the same for beans unless constrained by planter and tube configuration.

sounds like you are missing the fertilizer coulters and cast drop shoots. They are no longer available but can be improvised. You need to drop fertilizer to side of seed. Look at an original manuel to see what parts you are missing and try to fabricate something similar.
