I just recently bought a used Kubota 1850 mainly for cutting grass on my 3 acres. It has a FEL and plan on using that for a few odd jobs too. I'm considering getting a box blade for leveling a few grassy areas and to level and "refresh" my gravel driveway which is about 60 yds. long. The box blade I'm considering is a King Kutter 48" which weighs in at around 375 lbs. Do you think the tractor will be able to handle a 4 ft. box blade and will it do what I plan on? Thanks for any and all input.

Consider a $330 Ratchet Rake FEL bucket attachment. For three acres of grass leveling and minor gravel driveway grading Ratchet Rake will be ample.

By rotating bucket you can get more "bite" with the lower teeth on the RR than you can with a (too) light Box Blade.

Ratchet Rake serves more purposes than a Box Blade. RR is effective at tearing out brush and vines.

The T-B-N store is an agent for Ratchet Rakes.

Short answer is yes, the box blade will do what you want it too. I maintain our road and my drive with my BX 2370 with 5 ft medium duty box blade. I can pull a full box of gravel up hill with my BX. I used to have a L3800 with 6' heavy duty box blade and liked that better, but I haven't had any problems with the smaller lighter one so far on the smaller tractor.

With a 4' box blade my 25D, and previously by 1860, runs out of traction long before it runs out of power, you'll be fine.

Unless you're looking for an excuse to tell the wife. If that's the case I think you need an L at the lower end, maybe an M7 would be better:mischievous:

This is why I included what I intended to use it for. I'm sure there are some on this forum that would have you believe that "You can never have too much tractor!". :)

Your tractor can make it do some work. but you should know, there may be a large learning curve for you before it does what you want it to do.
