I have been wanting one for years and finally got one yesterday. It is a 7' commercial model with the heavy duty materials and 24" tall sides. It has a serated front blade and a solid rear blade. I got it to use with my skid steer. They all come with a 3 point hitch but Road Boss makes a skid steer bracket that is held on with 4 pins. You can mount it on either side of the unit which is really nice.

I have an equipment yard of sorts that is roughly 100' x 200'. It has crusher run on it which is a mix of asphalt, bricks, concrete etc all crushed up in to pieces no larger than a golf ball. It has been in place for about 5 years and I routinely grade it with a box blade and then drag chain harrow behind an ATV across it to make it smooth as glass. My point is it never gets in bad shape mainly it just gets tore up from all our rubber tracked machines turning on it and I smooth it out from time to time.

My first attempt to use the Road Boss was to dress this area up. I made a big mess in hurry. I set it on the ground level and and set the skid steer in float mode. The RB digs in pretty fast and will completely fill up with the material if you let it. One of the claims of these units is they reclaim buried gravel and bring it to the surface. My material was already at the surface and this thing dug in so much it was pulling dirt to the surface. My skid steer has 100hp, rubber tracks, and weighs 13,000lb. The RB could almost stop it when full. I stopped to see if I could adjust the blades up to be less aggressive as they set about 3/4" below the runners. I do not see a way to do so.

A bit puzzled at what to do I decided to turn the skid steer mount around backwards and operate the RB backwards to the way it was designed to run. This worked excellent as it did not fill up but was churning material over the blades and redepositing it. After a few passes I had the lot super smooth and back to normal.

I then put the mount on the correct way and headed out to dress up about 1 mile of dirt road on my property. It worked excellent for this. It dug in in and ripped out the grass and weeds growing in the middle and did a much better job in one pass than my box blade did with 5 passes. Very impressed.

My take away is if you have a dirt road or a hard packed surface these things work excellent but if you have loose gravel at the surface they will make a mess unless you can run them backwards or adjust the blades up somehow. Also you need plenty of HP for these. Even on the dirt road my skid steer was getting a workout.

I've seen the Road Boss units before and they seem to be really heavy duty. I think Road Boss is to LPGS what Brown is to rotary cutters.

This seems like a pretty top of the line unit. Got any pics to share?

How much does this weigh?
