I thought about buying ballast box but seems to be hit or miss with quality or working with QH. I have the Land Pride rta1050 tiller I want to use for rear ballast. It weights 385lb so a little on the light side. I want to add another 75 pounds to it somewhere but not sure where to add it to.

I would not recommend using a complex roto-tiller, with a complex drive train, as ballasted ballast.

You may be fine. Or, with time, something in the drive line will move out of tolerance.

However, it is YOUR equipment.

move out tolerance, from the bouncing ? the pto won't be in use the tiller will just be hanging on the 3ph back there.

First off don't laugh at my retrofit drawing, on the other hand it is rather hideous:)so go ahead, any way what I was thinking maybe build or get someone to build a plate that will attach to the holes on the top hitch that are not being used and let it lay down at an angle along the 3pt on the tiller. Then with a bar say 1" welded perpendicular to it then use the round 25 lb barbell weights with the holes and slide them on 3 or 4 or how ever many is needed. If you can make it neat enough might just paint the weights and leave them on the Tiller.

Tillers make great ballast...I use mine a BushHog RTS50 for rear weight when I plow snow with the loader bucket.

I leave it on the tractor virtually rear round only dropping it to use my mulch layer or tow a trailer.

One could try draping a 70 lb sand tube over the 3 pt center support / gear drive. Maybe a couple bungee cords would hold it in place. This could be a temporary fix until you find a better way.

Sand tube was what I was thinking also.

Never thought about sand bags or tubes, good idea.
