Delivered it yesterday. Probably won't be using her until next year when I'm more familiar with the new machine along with gaining confidence of removing the Backhoe. :)

They make a good one, it should serve you well.

I like my backhoe and my box blade so much, I did not want to choose one or the other, so I bought a second older tractor to keep my box blade attached all the time, they both are really handy when working in the dirt.

I live on a gravel road out in the woods and 90% of the home owners have gravel driveways. I'm betting a few will be asking if I would be interested in doing their driveways. Maybe she will pay for herself over the years. :) One thing I am worried about once I hit my property with her. I had fell maybe a dozen trees on the property, then later dug down and around each one a few inches, rented a stump grinder and chipped them down as low as I could without hitting the dirt dulling the blade. If I hit a stump with one of the box blade scarifiers will I split the tractor and my neck in two, or are they made to walk over or around such obstacles. I'm definitely only going to drop them down only one notch.

I use a B2710 to pull my BB around. I do hang things in the ground and most of the time it hangs a bit and jumps over it but occasionally it will bring me to a dead stop. I have bent a few pins and the arms on the BB but nothing that was not fixable, I hope you split neither your tractor nor your head.

Take it slow until you learn the underground obstacles. You can make gravel drives look good after a little practice.

Indian MC, first enjoy the box blade and if you read the post here you can do a good bit with one but practice is needed. You probably have read many of the post. As to the stumps, the scarifiers on all the box blades I have seen are firm and will not trip if it hits something like you are talking about. Depending on the age of the stumps and the species of tree the stump could still be solid or rotting. But would suggest slow and before that mark the stumps. Depending on the size of the stumps you need to also be aware where they are for as they rot their hole will open and could be suddenly be large enough for a tire to fall into it. Doubt any real danger but just be aware of that. Will suggest you remove all the stumps you can before you do the grading for it is much easier to level the ground filling in holes now than a few years later trying to bring to current grade a stump hole. Seems I get my a half inch lower or higher than the ground next to it and on lawn mower either produces a little bounce. kt

Thanks guys. Yes, low range and slow at first. The ground isn't very hard so I imagine if I hook up to one I'll get a slap in the back of the head and the wheels will start spinning. The trees were dropped less than a year ago. Maybe a dozen or so in a square area of 75'x75'. A few were rather large, over 2' plus, And, digging them out is out of the Question. This area of land is directly in between my house and the Artesian well. The water line is underground running right smack through all of them.

I have found the land plane grader scraper is easier to use on the gravel driveway if I am not moving a lot of material. I had to spread some dumped gravel and used the BB but for regular maintanence, I use my land plane. Just a thought.
