I picked up an old 3 point rototiller a while back and have not been able to identify the make. Of course, I was not smart enough to take pictures of it before I started tearing it down to "refurbish" it, so I don't have any pictures of the entire unit handy. Here is a short list of facts I do know:

1. It appears that it was originally orange in color
2. It has a Comer gearbox, made in Italy
3. Chain drive
4. 55" working width
5. 4 tines per flange, 7 flanges
6. the back gate is positioned by a curved bar instead of a chain

Besides the gearbox, noted above, there are no readable markings on the unit. Below are 2 pictures of what remained of 2 decals:

tiller2.jpeg

I'm hoping somebody recognizes the decal remnants if nothing else...

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Josh

Think it's a Muratori? They are still in business, if it is.

I think the decal says "rotovator". Think Howard brands their tillers like that. Rotovator is an alternate name for rototiller though I think so it might be more generic.

Why not take some pictures of the rest? I can see anything looking at a flat orange plate

Well, mainly because it's partially disassembled at the moment. Here are a few others showing more:

I agree that the decal likely says VATOR, but it doesn't appear to be an O in front of the V.

Any other ideas? I checked out everything I could find on Muratori, but that doesn't seem to fit. I really need to get some tines for this thing, but that's proving to be quite difficult without at least knowing the brand.

Regardless of manufacturer, the tines may well not be specific to that make. Take a look around online at tines, generically. You might find that they fit. Often, it doesn't make sense for smallish manufacturers to have everything be a proprietary design, instead opting for off the shelf components. I know this is the case with disc blades, and plow moldboards. It may be the case with tiller tines too.

I appreciate the advice. I have actually been doing just that and have accumulated a handful of various tines that don't fit. I found a website, Tillermaxx, that seems to have a lot of dimensions listed for different tines. I've found some that are close, and may try, but it seems none are exactly the same. I don't mind modifying a little here and there, so that's likely the route I'll go.

I'm guessing it was put to rest over 5 years ago when this thread was last active.
