Kubota BX 2200
I'm currently in the process of purchasing a used L3400 Kubota tractor and need a 6ft rotary cutter. My Kubota dealer sells the J Bar kind. I was quoted a list price of $1200 for the 6ft J Bar Standard Rotary Cutter SRM6 (See Untitled Page).

- Is this kind good enough to cut tall hay fields that haven't been mowed all year. They are full of tall Johnson Grass. I'm really looking to just cut clean fields with it.
- Is that a good price? I can't any for sale online.

Thanks,

Nick,

I got a LandPride 1860 (5') with my L3200 & it works well. You can probably run a 6', but 5' might be a bit better for our sized tractors. Realistically you can spin anything you can lift. I've never tried mowing without my loader, but have no worries I could lift it. A 6' probably needs front ballast or a loader. You may or may not be able to even lift a really heavy 6' regardless of ballast.

I think most I have seen would be considered low end. I think you can get a better cutter for that money. Buy by weight if all other things are even.

The L3400 came in two engine sizes and HP ratings. If it is a hydro you lose about one and a half HP. I think that cutter will do fine just cutting Johnson grass but you'll have to go slow where it is thick. That cutter LOOKS like it should sell for around a thousand or a little under. I've always been leary of those round gearboxes but they have cut a LOT of grass so what do I know............
