Found this Woods 5000 Chipper/Shredder on craigslist - paid $720.00 - think I did pretty good. Very happy with its performance. Anyone have a suggestion on where to get blades/Knifes? I believe they are 3 1/8" x 2" x 1/4" with a 45 degree bevel.

Thanks

I sold one just like it 2yrs ago for $1800. So you got a great deal around here. I got knives from my local woods dealer...

You did get a super deal, that unit is actually made by Echo Bearcat. It's just painted Woods orange.
Some of those units have double sided chipper knifes, some only have the single. The serial number will dictate which you have.
I have the same unit with the blower and chip hardwood to capacity with it no problem. The shredder gets way more use than I ever expected it to.
Just be extremely carful feeding the shredder as it rips branches out of your hand. I usually have to buy new gloves when I use it for any length of time.

I'd also strongly suggest using a logging helmet with face guard as the chipper will shoot small wood pieces out of the shoot occasionally.

Have the same unit here is a good place to get knives.

Make sure to freeze them before putting them on and use grade 8 bolts with locktite.

2nd on the shredder being very dangerous, never hold onto sticks you throw into it, they will get ripped out of your hands at 500mph almost broke my arm once on the chute side when my glove got caught on a branch going in.

I have the same one banded as bobcat along with the 2 speed blower. I run 100 yards of material, primarily through the shredder, every week. I resize wood chips using the 3/4" screen. It's a tough son of a gun. Last week a 3 point pin that was mixed in the chips ended up in the shredder. Holy crap it was loud. Got it all shut down and it was all fine. Really tough. Blower is really nice as I used 6" PVC to move it an additional 30 ft into a bin. Comes shooting out the end with lots of force. Also the vac option is useful if you have leaves to pick up.

Get a spare set of belts just in case. It's a BX56 but a B56 can be had at most auto parts stores and work great. Occasionally I will overload it and the old Farmall Super M PTO just keeps spinning LOL.

You got a great deal!

if you put them in freezer they will shrink a little bit. Must help during install.

If you freeze the blades and take them out one at a time and install them quickly they will stay tight. Thermal expansion tightens them up once they warm up. Even better is to use dry ice but not many people have access to it.
