Been meaning to make one of these for way too long. Saw the ad for this on everyone's favorite auction site and ordered one up. Showed up today, thought I'd share some observations.
Main construction is 2 in tube, slightly greater than 1/8 wall thickness (.148 or so). Side plates are 1/2 inch (.48) plate. All angles are square and true; welds look robotic, i.e. almost perfect.
Knew from the dimensions it wouldn't be plug and play to my QH with the hook set to I-match height. (14 y.o Speedco with chain boxes welded on.) Good news is there is more than enough material to easily cut a 5in or so plug out of the upright and reweld. I also have an aspiring millwright niece so might just cut the top mount off, split the tube and let her face mill off the excess material so I can just reweld the tabs in the proper spot. Nothing like a little Bridgeport practice...
Pretty amazing price for this thing, including the cat 1 pins. I didn't have any scrap 2 or 3 in tubing around and couldn't buy the steel locally for anywhere near the listed price of this thing.
