So I have an opportunity to buy a Woods BB6000X cutter for what I consider to be a good deal, but I have concerns that it may be too large for my tractor. I have a Kioti CK4010HST. The BB6000X weighs in at ~1300 pounds, and my tractor has a 3ph lifting capacity of 1631 pounds. I live in Florida with total flat ground, no hills or ditches. My tractor weighs 2750 pounds bare, and the loader adds another ~900 pounds, so 3650 pounds total there, plus water-filled tires. Woods' website indicates it will run off 40-150 HP, but I have 33.5hp at the PTO.

I am intrigued by this machine for its 4" cutting capacity, though I will never use it to the full capacity; the draw is more of its extreme-duty build to take abuse, as I plan to use it to mow the floor of my pine forest, which typically has 2-4" deadfall pine limbs that I can just run over without worry. Is this mower a terrible idea? Thanks in advance!

In my opinion no it is not too much, it will make your front end very light but you say your ground is flat so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. But even on flat ground when you let out on the clutch your front end could pop up and you may notice your front tires might skip rather than steer, but if you keep your loader on you may not have any problems at all.

That is tempting but I suspect it may be a little too big for the tractor to get full potential but if it will get it spinning it bet it will work. I can't say I've ever hooked up and implement that was nearly 50% of the weight of the tractor itself but I bet it would make one heck of a counterweight for FEL work. Might want to pick up a bucket full of dirt/rock/logs/etc with the FEL when you use it.

Trying to cut too big a tree, with too big a cutter for the size of your tractor, is a good way to take your pto out too...

Not intending on cutting any trees, the goal would be to chop up fallen/dead/rotting limbs and then the usual brush and grass undergrowth, probably 1" and smaller.

Just buy it and if it doesn't work out sell it. I just did that with a flail mower. Bought it at a good price and sold it getting all my money back.

Hello SammyNole,
Save your money, dont waste it. Invest in the smallest model of the three orchard and vineyard shredder flail mowers offered from Land Pride that will do the work for you without a wimper as these units were designed to mow tree prunings from orchards and vineyards as well as grass

The three Land Pride Flail Mowers in the line are built by the Maschio folks in Italy and are in Land Pride paint.

The member Docsfarm has the FM188 model and he loves it. I would suggest that you send him a PM and ask about the FM188 he owns, he is very happy with it.

Buy it. Don't hook the top link and just tow it. In that case, weight don't matter.

Adjust the slip-clutch/sheer-pin to the light side to protect the tractor pto.
