I was sure I saw a link here a while back to a pto driven lawn sweeper. I think it was a European piece of equipment.

I would like to find a sweeper with a 72" width and "manly" enough to tow behind my L3010. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've searched for about an hour and I can't come up with anything. Is anyone else's memory better than mine?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

do a search on "lawn sweeper". It brought up several posts on them. Had to go out to newer than 6 months to get it

Kevin,
Trac-Vac is a popular brand name in lawn vacuums. They are the company I have kind of zeroed in on. A TBN search brings up several hits. This may not be the brand you're looking for, but other brands may be discussed, too. The Trac-Vac site is: http://www.trac-vac.com/. About half way down their list of models you'll find their PTO driven units.
I could sure use one of these to supply raw material for my compost experimenting. Let us know what you discover.

Kevin, THe MC Mathews Company (mathewscompany.com) has a product called the lawn genie that is a PTO driven lawn sweeper. The sell the product in widths from 48-72". I believe they have both pull type and three point hitch models.

Kevin, I checked the MC Mathews website and the PTO sweeper I described in my earlier post is actually a mower. I thought it was a sweeper when I first looked at it.

I need to pay closer attention.

Thanks for the link......that is close, but I swear I saw a link to a pto powered sweeper. The more I think about it the more I am sure it was from Europe. They always have neat stuff over there. Can any of our European members point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Kevin

Am I the only one interested in such a contraption? Or should somebody build these things?

Kevin,
I guess I'm not sure what a lawn sweeper is. When I posted about Trac-Vac lawn vacuums, I thought we were talking about the same kind of implement, but maybe not. Is a lawn sweeper a bristle device? How does it sweep?

A lawn sweeper is a broom that has a bag attached to it to pick up the sweepings. I have never seen any that were suitable for a sub compact or compact tractor. Most are used with small garden tractors or riding lawn mowers. You could use a front mounted or rear mounted rotary broom that would windrow the debris, but you would have to keep moving it to one side and then pick it up when finished. This is what I do with my walk behind broom in the spring and fall to clean up dead leaves and twigs. They are available from the tractor manufactures as accessories or from independent companies such as York Modern or Sweepster Corporation & FFC Corporation Merged ....

Kevin, I remember seeing a pto driven sweeper at the Minnesota State Fair last year. It is a smaller unit than the 72" you were looking for. I beleive it is only 48" wide. But it does sweep leaves, pine needles, debris into a collection cart behing the sweeper.

The company showing the sweeper is called Edney Distributing. THey have a web site (Edneyco.com/) and the product is listed under their turf equipment heading. The product is called a TurfMaster Sweep-all.
