As we reclaim more and more acreage from the roses and poplars on our new farm, it is evident that we are going to need a bigger tractor. A good friend suggested that there might be ag implements for a Cat D3 dozer and if we found some, he would donate his D3 to the cause and even reroute some hydraulics if needed. (Did I mention he's a good friend?) So the question is, has anyone used a small bull dozer to pull a moldboard plow, disc or even our Brush Bull 60? I can see using a small ripper rake for yanking out the roots and sub soiling but aside from that, google has turned up bupkis on Ag implements for the D3.

There are quite a few wheel type disk, rakes etc. they can still have hydraulics attached to control their depth. Why do they they need to be made specially for a D3 ?

We use an old Cat D6 to pull our 12'disk. Have used our Case 310 to pull the 8' disk before we had any wheel tractors. This is all old equipment, but still gets the job done.

I don't think they necessarily need to be D3 specific but in my discussion with Tony it was my impression that he thought there were so I was looking in that direction. Thanks for the feedback.

Nice straight line travel on the D6 photo, and it looks like you have a front sight on the hood. :)

We call those 'iron sights' in upstate NY!

I grew up on a farm in the central valley of California (1940s and '50s) and we used track engines exclusively for tillage. The valley had heavy clay soil, and the track engines produced much less compaction than wheel tractors. We used them only for row crop work, like planting, cultivating, and harvesting of some crops.

Just picked this set of 8' Oliver discs at an estate auction for $125. I don't think they have been out of that barn since the 30's. I don't imagine the D3 will have any trouble with them. OliverDisc.JPG
