I have looked at several tooth bars and would like to know if these 18 tooth bars have any major advantage over a 8 tooth or 7 tooth bar? I have not yet priced them, but the more teeth probably relates to more cost. Anybody use these types?

Seems to me there is a guy down in the Branson discussions who has one. He claims it is great for back blading because it leaves a smoother result. He raved about it for some other reason But I have done forgot why /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I have the regular kind, though it seems to me a toothbar with more teeth would be sort of a compromise between having a toothbar and not having one, since the pressure is spread out over a much larger area, in the same way that not having a toothbar at all spreads out the pressure across the entire front edge.

I would have to say that it would work great for pushing rocks or brush. But for digging I would prefer the less teeth option.

Hey, I may have been that guy on the branson forum. Not sure I raved about the toothbar, maybe what you meant to say is he is a raving lunatic. Anyhow, I can't compare to the regular bar, as this is the only one I've had. I've used it to "comb" my drive (backdragging) while I had my backhoe on and didn't want to put a box blade on. It definately digs..... I started work on leveling a wooded site for a barn and cut a road into it. I had to use a very subtle angle or the thing would dive right in. Also, it will snag up small trees/roots I believe better than what the reg bar would do. The disadvantage is ....when your wife gets mad at you and pins your scrawny neck up against the barn with your loader bucket...you may survive with the regular toothbar...given the 8-9 inches between teeth. With my bar having only 2 inches between teeth...I haven't got a prayer. It may run you $150 more or so than the reg tooth bar...not sure if it is worth it or not.
