I am looking at getting a landscape rake. Well, I've actually allready made the decision to get one, just not sure on which one or size. Anyone have any recommendations on what size will work best with a B7800? I am going to for sure get at least a 72" but will an 84" work well also? And what type should I get? I am looking at a King Kutter right now for ~$450 but not sure if there is something else in that price range I should look at. I would love to go with a Woods or Landpride, etc... but I just can't spend that kind of money on an implement right now. I am going to use it mainly to sort the thousands of small to medium sized rocks that came to the surface when I box bladed my property. After that I will use it for other "regular" landscape rake duties. Thanks for any help on this.

A couple weeks ago I used a Howse 72" rake to clear the small debris out of an industrial field using a B2910. I kept turning around to make sure the rake was still attached because the tractor didn't seem to ever have to tug. I would easily go up to an 84" and possibly up to a 96" rake. That said, the field I was dragging had NO buried rocks, so if you have lots of rocks, that might put some strain on the tractor to dig those up.

As for brands, I am a firm believer that if you plan on giving the implement a regular workout, then go ahead and spend big money because it is hard to quantify the benefits added design features that you get when you buy quality. But if you will seldom use the tool, going cheap (Howse, KK, etc) is not going to bother you and you can live with the less convenient design features, adjustment methods, etc because it is not use frequently. So decide how much you will use the implement and then decide what quality level you need.

I've been using my rake a great deal of late. I just had part of my property stumped it did a great job picking up the trash left behind. I've got a JD 4400 the rake is a 72". The reason for the size selection of my rake is so that I can take the rake any place the tractor can go. Much larger and I wouldn't be able to get the tractor between the remaining trees.

An 84" will work very well behind your B7800. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a Land Pride LR1584 with gage wheels.

It does such a great job that I canceled a rental of a power rake to do the lawn at my neighbors home after a new septic field was installed. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The Land Pride rake with will cost over $1000 with the gage wheels. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Consider getting the gage wheels. You will not regret the extra cost. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The KK 72" at $450 is a great price and will do as good a job a the more expensive Land Pride. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the advice. I will probably go tommorow to pick up a rake. After reading Troy's post I will probably stick with the 72" because there are some kind of tight places I may want to get in to. That extra foot between the 72" and 84" is a big 12 inches for my land. I just wanted to make sure it will cover the back tires when it is tilted and it looks like it will. Now I need to decide what my next implement will be. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
