1/2 Ton Pick up vs. Kubota L3710 for snow plow, etc?

Thats especially true on a light duty truck because the blade will suck the front suspension all the way down and the plow ends up pretty low.
If the rear of the truck is swinging around, you need to add rear weight to truck. I fill the box of my 3/4 ton full of green Oak.
Exactly the same as what fills my bed also

Thanks guys. Good advice. I'll work with the tractor. I was worried my 1500 was a little under built for plowing and you all confirmed it.

I did not see a description of the drive. If not concrete/asphalt get the edge tamers as previously recommended. I live in the land of lake effect. Use my 24 hp tractor and FEL to move snow.

The edge tamers make it easy to not end up with all the stone in my yard.

I'll be the first to say the 24hp tractor is slow as molasses compared to a truck, but its probably the better choice.

Oh yeah if I had a truck with a plow it would do the drive a LOT more quickly than the tractor. However I need the tractor for things other than plowing the drive. So adding the edge tamers for $150 was a heck of a lot cheaper than adding a plow to the F150. Also if I added the plow to the F150 it would not fit in the garage and that would make me cranky. The tractor still fits in the barn with the edge tamers.

Kubota L3710 TractorData.com Kubota L371 tractor information

Engine (gross): 38.5 hp [28.7 kW]
Engine (net): 36.6 hp [27.3 kW]
Gear PTO (claimed): 31.5 hp [23.5 kW]
Hydro PTO (claimed): 30 hp [22.4 kW]

I can plow in high gear with a 6ft blade and the same tractor up to 6 inches of snow if it's not drifted. Any more than that or if it's drifted I drop to medium. Plowing in high gear it will throw the snow a pretty good distance off the rear blade. Where did you get 24 hp? A different tractor?

Ten years of clearing with a back blade and snow bucket, I spent $700 and bought an old plow with power angle for my JD. About 1000' from the highway to the barn. Last year we had almost no snow. Today we have about 18" on the ground and I am starting to dump it out on the lake.
Have a rear blower sitting out back but it just won't blow far enough with a 550 rpm pto, plus I have to watch where I put the snow and stones. Most of my plowing is about 2000 rpm with rear tire chains. My snow bucket slides into the factory bucket and extends another 24" forward. When the snow is wet and packed it will move a good chunk each trip....
It takes about 2 minutes to switch from the plow to the bucket....
