Kubota L3710 HST
I lost my neighbor who used to plow our lane, so I'll have to take care of myself now. I have a Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd, 4.8L V8 standard cab 8' bed truck an a Kubota L3710 with standard FEL (no SSQA yet) and extra hydraulic on the back. I live in Central PA, so we don't get a whole lot of snow each winter, but we usually get 1-3 Noreaster storms /year that drop 12-24".

SO: Would I be better off putting a plow on the pick up truck or getting a plow or other implement(s) for the tractor? Thanks in advance for any input.

You have the perfect machine for plowing snow with your Kubota L3710. That is a nice heavy tractor. I live in the snowbelt in NE Ohio and get some of those 1-2 ft storms. I do all my plowing with my loader on my B2650. You can push, scoop, or pile snow with it. If you are not comfortable using the loader, you can add a blade to the FEL, or you can add one to the three point hitch. There are also options for front or rear snow blowers but they get pretty pricey. Also price to outfit a pickup with a plow is pretty expensive. Just my 02 cents.

The truck will push more than the tractor and has a heater. I would not recommend putting a plow on your truck because the trans not heavy enough for snow plowing.

The tractor is made to work. It will have a better turning radius than the truck. A plow or rear blade will be cheaper for the tractor.

I'd start with these on the loader and then decide if you want a cab and heater. Minimal investment and you will know how important a cab is after a few storms. I enjoy being outside myself- but rarely see sub zero f- especially when it's snowing.

That truck is not meant to push snow. I'm sure you could, but it'll be hard on it. The suspension was designed to haul groceries, not a snowplow. I'll say the heat is one thing that is great. I don't miss sitting in the Northern Wisconsin cold plowing.

Tractor obviously. I've been plowing with the same tractor and 6ft. rear blade for 13 years. I plow 4 neighbors which works out to around 1 mile of driveway. I recommend loading rear tires and running rear chains.

How'd you get so lucky to have a guy plow you out when you had the perfect machine to do it yourself?

Only choice is the tractor. You have the loader, and if you get a snow blower for the 3pt you will be all set with the hydro trans.

I do 99% of snow removal with 3pt blower, open station tractor.

This is my first year with a plow truck. Previously, I always plowed with tractors. In the pic below, you can see my F250 plow truck, as well as my Massey 1652 with 8' hydraulic back blade and 90" front bucket.

For doing straight passes on my 1/4 mile driveway, my neighborhood, and wide open areas... the plow truck beats the tractor, hands down, no competition. You can move faster and throw (windrow with force) the snow much better.

Doing tight work in front of the garage, barn, etc... The tractor is better.

You could fit a homeowner grade plow on the front of your truck, new for around $2500. But like others have said, that's alot of abuse for that truck.

You could also shop around for an old beat up plow truck like I did... For less money than installing a plow on your truck.

My neighbor has a pickup to move snow and it seems to work really well unless you get into the big drifts. For most applications a pickup will probably work better and it's much nicer in the cab than outside.

I have owned 4WD pickups for 40 years and never considered putting a snow plow on one.Tractors are made to push/pull.In your case I would just get a good 7ft.rear blade. You always have the bucket for moving piles ect.I run front and rear plows but we get a lot more snow up North.
